Co-founding Saggau & DeRollo, LLC in 2004, Dustin has provided media relations and government affairs advice to both public agency and private sector clients such as the KB Home; Atlantic Aviation; the Los Angeles Police Protective League; the San Jose Police Officers’ Association; HP and BP of North America.
Dustin is adept at quickly building a comprehensive, modern, communication infrastructure for our union and association-based clients. From implementing direct-email marketing systems to establishing and growing their social media platforms, to person-to-person text messaging technologies, Dustin implements user-friendly processes that allow our clients to rapidly and effectively communicate with their members.
Dustin’s public policy background allows him to quickly analyze public agency budget and policy proposals, providing our clients with the ability to influence government agency decisions. In Los Angeles, he helped spearhead the Los Angeles Police Protective League’s initiative to create “mandatory minimums” for LAPD police patrols by culling data demonstrating failing emergency response times and identifying funding mechanisms within the existing City budget to pay for the patrols.
In the San Francisco Bay Area, Dustin was brought in by Brookfield Residential, one of the nation’s largest real estate development firms, to develop a public communications strategy to assist the developer in dealing with a complex environmental challenge. In that engagement, Dustin provided media training for Brookfield executives, key staff, and their technical consultants to ensure that environmental science issues were translatable and understood by local residents.
Adept at managing all aspects of campaigns. He has led numerous campaigns to assist local cities and school districts in passing revenue measures and oversees independent expenditure campaigns for our clients. Dustin helps oversee public opinion research to give our public based clients the best opportunity for success at the ballot box.
A political science graduate from San Jose State University, Dustin previously served as President of the Board of Education of the Franklin-McKinley School District. A father of a large blended family (seven kids total), Dustin lives in Santa Cruz, California, with his wife, Alicia.
